At every closing there is present someone who is referred to as the 'closing agent'. So just what does a closing agent do? The closing agent usually is in the employ of the title company or the mortgage bank. The closing agent is the person who conducts the closing meeting. He controls the agenda and is there to make sure everything happens smoothly. The primary job of the closing agent is to make sure that all the paperwork is signed properly and recorded properly. He or she also makes sure that escrow monies are distributed to the proper parties.
