This is going to sound perhaps a bit ridiculous but it really isn't. Before signing the closing papers at your real estate closing carefully examine the documents for errors. It happens frequently that the documents contain important effors. For example its not uncommon for the amount of the sale to be incorrect. Often the names of the buyer and seller are not correct, or are mispelled. Sometimes the fees are different than what you have been told. Sometimes the documents fail to take into account put into escrow either by or for you. And check the grant deed, too. Sometimes they get the name wrong and that can cause you a headache down the road. Its trite but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
